If you've been sent this link, I'm SO looking forward to your boudoir session! I want you to feel and look your best for your session on the shooting day, so I've created this guide to ensure that you're prepped and ready to go, stress-free, on the day of your session.

Get Hydrated

Drink plenty of water in the week before your session if you're not already a water-drinker. This will help hydrate your skin and make it look smoother.

If you wax, plan to do that at least 3-5 days prior to your session date to allow any redness to subside.

If you shave, shaving the night before should be perfect. Just be mindful if you shave areas you don't normally shave to avoid razor burn or ingrown hairs. If you know you get irritation after shaving, please plan for that.

I highly recommend NOT spray tanning, and highly discourage use of self-tanning products. No matter how much you exfoliate, I can almost guarantee the camera will pick up uneven spots. Natural skin is beautiful! If you absolutely must tan, please avoid doing any spray tanning within 7 days of your session and please schedule it with a professional more than a week out from our scheduled date. Also, be mindful that any tan lines you have currently will show up in photos and I don't edit them out. I strongly suggest leaving your skin as is because you are beautiful!

Avoid any harsh chemicals (AHA/BHA), exfoliating, or any facials a few days before. Use gentle cleansers and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! leading up to your session. And don't neglect your lips! Make sure you're using lip balm for a week or so beforehand to avoid any chapped lips.

Plan on getting your brows shaped or waxed a few days before so they look amazing! Get those eyebrows on fleek ...or whatever the cool kids are saying these days.

Hands & Feet

Hands and feet are so important to be mindful of for your session! I highly recommend scheduling a manicure and pedicure the day before, if possible. If not, just make sure your nails are filed nicely. Avoid press-on nails. Before you leave, make sure the soles of your feet are clean and not dried out because it will show up on camera when we do any shots barefoot! And I do like to do most of my shots barefoot.

Allergies or Sensitivities

Please do let me know ahead of your session if you have any skin sensitivities or allergies to products so I can relay that to our makeup artist if your session includes that service.

  • Arrive to the studio with a clean, gently moisturized face, no makeup at all.

  • Consider going braless, sockless, and not wearing anything too tight so that you don't leave indentations on your skin, or bring a lightweight robe or oversized button-up shirt (something you won't have to remove over your head) to wear while getting hair and makeup done.

Cuts & Color

If you're planning on updating your hair look before the session, please plan to do it at least a week in advance in case of any issues that your stylist may need to fix. Now is not the time to do a major hair change that you may end up not liking or having issues that need to be fixed.

  • Arrive to the studio with clean, DRY hair. If your hair does not get greasy easily, day-old hair is totally fine. Do not use any products or flat iron your hair before arriving. If you have curly hair and want it completely flat-ironed, please let me know in advance so we can plan extra time.

What to Wear

Included in your session fee is the use of my Client Closet! I have lots of great lingerie items in varying sizes for that purpose.

If you are bringing your own items, please make sure they are clean, ironed or steamed (so no big wrinkles or folded over lace, etc.). Feel free to bring anything you like and we will go through them to find the ones you feel most confident in and will fit the look of the boudoir shoot.

  • Thongs! 1 black and 1 nude would be great to wear under lingerie that you may be using from my Client Closet or under anything you bring that may be a bit too revealing for your taste.

  • Shoes! Bring at least one pair of heels or pumps that make you feel sexy. Even if you don't wear them often in real life, they do look amazing in some shots. Make sure there are no price stickers on them and clean the soles as best as possible. The bottoms of your shoes will likely show in many photos depending on the poses, so if they're worn or dirty, it will show up in the photos.

  • Bra & Panty Set! It doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to match, fit, look pretty, and most of all, make you feel confident! [Note: Photo links below are Amazon affiliate links and I may earn a small commission if you purchase one of these items shown.]

  • Any Other Items You'd Like to Wear! If you are bringing lingerie of your own (not using my Closet), feel free to bring a few items and we can figure out together what would be the best. I also allow other items that you may want to incorporate into your session - EXCEPT weapons, live animals, drugs, or cigarettes.

  • Plan ahead! You want to arrive relaxed, not forgetting anything, or stuck in traffic somewhere. Set everything aside or put it in your car the night before so you're ready to go. Don't forget your photo ID so I can ensure you are over the age of 18.

  • As previously mentioned - wear loose clothes such as an oversized button-up shirt and yoga pants, or feel free to bring a lightweight robe (nothing heavy that would leave a pattern or marks in your skin.

  • Use CLEAR deodorant! White stick deodorant tends to get on lingerie and is not a good look in your photos.

  • Eat something light, yet filling, before the session. Avoid food or drinks that will possibly stain your lips/teeth/tongue.

  • I know that a boudoir session can be nerve-wracking! However, if you arrive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and are visibly impaired, you will be asked to reschedule for a $100 rescheduling fee. A small glass of white wine (again, avoid red! It stains!) is okay; a full bottle is not.

My studio is located at 115 E Bellevue St, Leslie MI 49251. It is a two-story brick building on the corner of E Bellevue St & Commercial Dr. There is free street parking in the front of the building on on the side on Commercial Drive. When you arrive, you can come in, sign a COVID release form, use the restroom, and start getting ready for your session. My Boudoir Room is a separate room at the back of my studio and I have a pink Victorian settee, a firm queen-sized air mattress bed with a scrolled headboard, and a white cast-iron clawfoot tub! At this time, I'm not doing a water-filled tub option for boudoir, but you are encouraged to pose in it with flowers, sheer fabric, or just yourself. I also have several chairs to use for poses.

PLEASE DO reschedule if you or your immediate family have been exposed to COVID-19 or had coronavirus within 21 days prior to the session!!

Please also do not bring extra people to the photo session who are not being photographed unless cleared by me before the event.

Your balance is due in full the day before the session. This allows us to have one less thing to handle at your actual session and avoids confusion.

Please be sure you have read your entire contract. I realize it's a lengthy read, but it does contain answers to questions such as approximately how long my turnaround is on images, what is included in your session fee, etc.
